 Range of work
We undertake an extensive range of print work, both commercial and
private. From simple business cards and office stationery to full colour
catalogues and books our modern prepress and printing equipment allows us
to produce all types of work efficiently and to a high standard. Our
philosophy has always been to offer a comprehensive and personal service
with attention to detail and competitive pricing being of paramount
importance.
Design
We can offer a comprehensive design and page layout service in our studio
with the facility to supply large format colour proofs. Our experienced
designers will be happy to discuss your requirements.
Printing
Our printing department is able to offer both large and small format
printing. The smaller machines include numbering and perforating for
multipart sets and our large format press can print and apply seals and
varnishes at one pass. Computer control ensures that the work is carried
out to the highest quality. We can also die cut allowing us to produce
folders and boxes.
Finishing
Our in house range of services ensures that close control can be
maintained over work as it goes through. These services include machine
collating, folding, guillotining, book binding, padding, wire-o binding
for calendars and shrink wrapping. As well as a wide range of equipment we
also have a handwork department enabling us to carry out such functions as
inserting envelopes, hand checking and counting.
History
Established as a printing business in 1770, the Caxton and Holmesdale
Press has been owned and managed by the Salmon family for over one hundred
years. The company has a proud tradition of serving the needs of Sevenoaks
and the surrounding area. As well as general work of all types, many and
varied books have been produced over the years for local authors and
organisations. The company has close links with local businesses and
produces magazines and prospectuses for several schools. The printing
works and sales office have always been based in the town, originally in
the historic Shambles area and today on Tubs Hill where it shares its
facilities with its sister company, J. Salmon Ltd., the well-known
publisher of post cards, calendars, books and other products.
